Chuck Schumer wants "Stand my Ground Law" changed in wake of Trayvon Martin shooting!

There is a lot of irony in Chuck Schumer's request for justice. He is a liberal on hyper speed. Won't he look stupid if he's wrong? Check that! He already looks stupid.

I figured this was coming! It's really about the basic human right of self-defense, which I guess we're not supposed to have if a black person is assaulting us? That's how ridiculous it's become. It's all about divide and conquer. Instead of succumbing to the emotionalism, they need to objectively weigh the facts and the evidence and then reach a conclusion. And don't succumb, anyone, to politicians who just want to restrict our basic rights of protection! Thanks for posting this.

First of all George Zimmerman can claim all he wants it was self defense, I don't believe him. He was older, huskier, had a gun, had a car. I do not see he was standing his ground against a slender teenage boy who was just trying to have a good day, get home and enjoy his life. I had 4 men recently drive up into my very icy driveway. I was home alone. I am 62 and there was no one near to help. My neighbors are weekender's or work. My husband was at work. We have had a lot of break ins and burgerly in our area lately it is 50% more than it ever had been. I live very rural and mountainous. They decided to leave when I stepped out of the house with my 30.30 rifle. Asking what they wanted. They took 30 minutes to go from my house to a neighbors 2 miles away. He was home too working in his shop and he has camera's and got them on camera trying to break into his house, he was in his shop. He got the car license and called the sheriff. But the sheriff takes 2 hours to get here or more. They did finally show up. They had also stopped enroute between our place the the other guy's place and did break in to a neighbor's home between the two of our places and got dvd's cd's and jewelery and cameras and tools. They did not get apprehended they left when the guy who was in his shop came out with his rifle. He is 65. They told him they were looking for a state park. Right in the winter time. They were lying. So I feel stand your ground is needed in situations where someone could kill you if your home alone, elderly. But in Treyvon's case I do not believe there was any stand your ground situation. Zimmerman was following the teenager in his car, he was told to stop doing that he didn't he had a gun. Now he has an attorney who is lying. I do feel it wrong the black panthers are trying to turn this into a race war. I do not see any reason to change stand your ground in states who have it. It is a ploy to once again take away rights. The problem is what would have happened if Zimmerman were black and Treyvon white? Would there be an out cry then? It is people being crazy, stupid, emotional and pure not thinking and letting fear get the better of them. For me would I have shot the 4 dudes if they tried to come at me or in my house? Oh yeah and I know how. Was taught very young about guns and safetly and protection. Dad said you shoot for two things. One for food and you eat what you kill if it is an animal. The other is protection/self defense of yourself, or others.

I believe him. I heard the 9-1-1 call where he was screaming and crying for help. He was an older man, less fit than Trayvon. BTW, the pictures that media has been showing of Trayvon are old ones - about 5 years old - to make you feel more sympathy toward him.

Witnesses say he was defending himself and so does his neighborhood friend (a black man).


Zimmerman said he no longer saw Martin and was returning back to the vehicle when the teen approached him and they exchanged words. Martin, he said, then struck him, knocked him down and began banging his head on the ground.

At some point, Zimmerman shot Martin in the chest at close range.

Zimmerman’s attorney, Craig Sooner, told ABC News that Zimmerman had a broken nose and an injury to the back of his head. Witnesses, according to the Sentinel, say they saw Martin on top of Zimmerman, punching him and heard him crying for help.

I am not sure, but I do know that there were witnesses who back up Zimmerman's side, and none that back up Martin's.

When you put idiots and guns in the same roome more incident like this one will continue to happen.

Indeed, if teens beat up older men, they should those older men to fight back and defend themselves however they can.

This is ridiculous. People don't know what happened yet, and they are willing to judge.

This is a case study in Cloward-Piven/Saul Alinsky strategies for "community organizers" to do their Revolution" bidding. And nothing more. This Community Organizer In Chief is using Trayvon to do his dasdardly deeds of racial divide and THAT is the biggest sin in this whole thing.

Did you know the boy was attacking Zimmerman, that it's Zimmerman screaming for help on the 911 tape? Or that the boy was over 6' tall? Did you know Zimmerman is Hispanic but media reports him as "white Hispanic" just to inflame the public? Since when is there some racial divide between Hispanics and blacks? Did you know that a white student was mrudered at Miss university last evening or that a 13 year old white boy was set on fire by a bunch of black boys on his way home from school? Do you have any idea how many black boys are murdered by other blacks in Chicago? Did you know the media is using a 5-year old picture of Trayvon to fan the flames of divide?

Get a grip people. Don'ty let this Radical Left pull such crap on you. Be smart enough to know when you're being used.

BTW, do yourselves a favor and search Cloward-Piven Saul Alinsky strategies because you're going to be seeing a lot more of it before this election. You don't have to read very far to recognize this case written in between those lines.

I heard the 9-1-1 tape. Zimmerman was the one screaming and asking for help. I believe him that the kid pulled him from the car. We know that he was injured and crying for help. And, yes, he ended up shooting the guy. It's a sad tragedy, but it should not be a political issue for the president or be something gun control nuts use to try to take our guns.

Chuck Shumer is not someone I'd trust. I'm not following the FL case, but to say that the NY problems are like the FL problems based on one case is ridiculous.

Chuck Schumer is another political opportunist. I haven't read the text of Florida law, but it most likely is very similar to others. Too many make these laws sound as if I could go start punching somebody in the face repeatedly until they respond, then legally mow them down... I don't think so. Not to imply that's the case here by the way, I wasn't there and neither was he.

This is another case of taking advantage of the situation. SOP for their agendas. It is ludicrous to blame the law.

If you listen to the 911 tapes Zimmerman's speech pattern sounds strange. It sounds totaly different than when he left a message on his friend's phone. I do wonder if Zimmerman was drunk or on drugs. We may never know since the police chose not test Zimmerman for drugs or alcohol.
