If you read my stuff from last week, you'll know about the problems I had getting two very innocent packages from the post office. Because I did not have a federal ID like a passport of a birth certificate with me, they would not give me my packages (two CDs I'd ordered from Amazon). I imagine it's just a matter of time before someone (maybe me?) goes postal on the post office. LOL
Walker ran out of pills that the doctor prescribed for glaucoma, so today I called in a refill under his name, gave them my name, and told them I'd come get them in 20 minutes. I came in, told them my name, they handed me the pills, I paid for them, and went on my way. They didn't even ask me for IDENTIFICATION!!! I know, I know, why ID at a drug store? What if I'd been sent to pick up some Oxycontin, or something like that? What if Walker's glaucoma medication was a little more unorthodox, if you get my drift? Medicinal marijuana isn't unheard of up here. Why on earth can I so easily pick up someone else's prescription at the local pharmacy, but the bloody post office won't give me my own damn package, even with proof of identity? I didn't have federal ID on me, but I had my OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan) card on me, ad one has to be a CITIZEN to get one of those cards.
Makes me think the people at the post office are getting expperimental drugs from the people at the pharmacy. Seems that would be easy enough to do since the folks at the pharmacy are eager to hand pills to anyone who walks in here to get them. LOL

The health card would be a start, but again that won't help the Mennonites either. I wonder what they use to pick up packages. I'll probably end up calling my Mennonite Grandmother in the morning and asking her.
Sure not complaining about the ease of picking the prescription up at the pharmacy (the same one I use for mine so I guess they know me) just that if I can get someone else's stuff there, atleast I should get my stuff at the P O.
By the way, my adult kids pick up my prescriptions and meds all the time, but it is arranged ahead of time with my permission. Both the doctors office and pharmacy are familiar with them. I would hate it if that wasn't possible, and a couple are pretty heavy stuff, LOL.
I actually called ahead to tell them I'd be in to get the pills too, so I guess that had something to do with why they gave them to me. I buy diabetic test strips in there for him every month, and with Air Miles, and location, that's become our regular pharmacy. I just wish I could say the same for our regular POST OFFICE!
I do a lot of shopping by mail, and this is starting to get really really annoying.
As for the Niqabs you describe in the bank, I'd be worried about robbery, and I'd probably act accordingly, since that's what bank robbers wear.
And what's to stop a man from putting on a Niqab, and going in disguised as a woman?
Now, I've spoken to women in Niqabs, and a lot of them wear them for modesty the same as I'd wear a long dress, but IN THE WEST I think we should have our limits, when it comes to entering government buildings. I don't want to take their EXTREME modesty away from them, but I don't want bank robbers to pick up on their tradition, and exploit that for their own dangerous games.
We also have to bring an ID with us when fetching something from the post office. As we are pretty active sellers on Ebay, there are times when we stop by the post office every saturday. One day I fetched something for my boyfriend (now husband) and of course I had an ID with my maiden name and did not think about the form with his name and signature. The lady at the desk did not want to hand me the parcel over, but the boss a few meters away told her "It's ok, I know them. You can hand it out to her" *lol*
Nice that the person knew you. The problem I'm having is that now the postal people are dropping our stuff at a DIFFERENT post office. I like the old one better because it was in a nice big drugstore where I could get all kids of groceries. Not to mention, they all knew me. Of course it wasn't on a bus route, but cab fare is a small price to pay to get it ASAP!
Could you imagine if I carried my federal (birth certificate, SIN card, passport) and my wallet got stolen? Credit cards are bad enough with identity theft, but all that other stuff would leave me wide open.
