Supernatural season 7 continues next week with episode 18, "Party On, Garth," which brings back a fellow hunter from earlier this season for what's sure to be an episode with some much-needed laughs after the previous one.
SPN Season 7 Episode 18 "Party On, Garth" Promo
"Dean (Jensen Ackles) is surprised when he gets a call from Garth (guest star DJ Qualls) asking for the brothers' help on a case. Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean discover they are battling a Shojo, a Japanese creature sent to seek revenge on enemies. The worst part about fighting a Shojo? You can only see it when you're drunk."
One of the few people still alive whom the Winchesters have worked with before is back when DJ Qualls returns as Garth in this episode. While "Season 7, Time for a Wedding" wasn't the best episode of the season, it was amusing to watch Dean working with Garth, especially when he hugged him at the end. However, the best part of this episode has to be that Sam's back on his feet—but only because of Castiel's actions in "The Born-Again Identity."
The Supernatural season 7 episode 18 promo for "Party On, Garth" (below) shows Garth explaining that they need to be drunk to see the monster. Yes, that's right, it's time for some drunk hunting with the Winchesters and Garth. With a "Party on, Garth" from Dean, the three hunters get to work on getting drunk. It looks like it works, because Garth calls Dean up to tell him the Shojo's there. Too bad the woman the Shojo's standing behind is oblivious (and therefore sober).
Before they do take care of the Shojo, there's going to be some getting thrown into walls (poor Sam hits his head against a wall—like he hasn't been through enough lately!), gasps (you have to love that from Garth), and getting tossed around. Overall, it looks like it should be a fun, light-hearted episode, which is just what this show needs after recent events. Plus, Garth's back, and that's sure to mean some laughs just because of that, never mind the case itself. At least this doesn't look like a case where you have to worry that it could end in Sam and Dean losing another fellow hunter because they've lost enough.
