Clintonville, Wis has experienced strange noises and booming sounds for the past several days. According to City Administrator Lisa Kuss "the mystery is solved." What a relief for residents who were seriously concerned about all the unusual noise.
On Thursday night Kuss said, "In other places in the United States, a 1.5 earthquake would not be felt. But the type of rock Wisconsin has transmits seismic energy very well." Is the mystery really solved? It certainly seems that Clintonville city officials have put the matter to rest.
Resident Jolene Van Beek said, "Anything to do with earthquakes is going to freak people out. You'd never expect it in Wisconsin." Ultimately, many people remain skeptical that the 1.5 magnitude micro-quake caused the strange noises and booming rumbling. However, at this point, it is the best explanation that anybody has found.
It seems that earthquakes have happened more often in unusual locations. Recently, Oklahoma felt an earthquake that actually caused damage. As unlikely as it seems, places in the middle of the U.S. appear to be having more frequent seismic activity, and that is possibly what happened in Clintonville, Wis setting off the strange noises and rumblings.
Have you ever heard an earthquake? They can certainly rumble. Do you think that the city is right in explaining these sounds with the 1.5 magnitude micro-quake? It was a confirmed event because it was recorded by six instruments in the region, so it could be what set off the strange noises. Did you hear them?
