INTRODUCTION
Miss Langley just sat there in disbelief of the events that unfolded that evening. She came home after a long day at work being on the phone with disgruntled customers over a product recall which stressed her out. She just wanted to come home to peace and quiet, but instead Miss Langley came home to broken living room windows, a front door which was standing open with signs of forced entry, and her belongings in disorder. The wind chimes out on the porch was still there jingling with the breeze.
Miss Langley started going through her stuff to see what all was taken. She went through her jewelry boxes, and places where other valuables were kept hidden. Miss Langley went through the house to inventory other things, such as tvs, electronics, cell phones, etc, but astonishlingly nothing of popular value was taken. Her television and electronics were not touched, her jewelry and other belongings were not taken, and all important documents were still in their envelopes. "What in the world were they searching for?" She thought.
Miss Langley was almost cleaned up, and her boyfriend enters unannounced. He wasn't aware what had taken place. Kevin went through the house to the kitchen where he found Miss Langley. "There you are, Anna." Kevin said. Anna just gasped and froze in fear. When Anna Langley looked to see who it was she just began to break into tears and buried her head into Kevin's shoulder.
"What's wrong?" Kevin asked. "I'm so relieved." Anna replied. "I came home to find my house was broken into, but I couldn't find anything missing." "Well it's good that nothing was taken." Kevin Replied. "But it makes me wonder exactly what they were looking for. This wasn't an ordinary home invasion" Anna said. "They could come back, you know."
"Would you like me to spend the night tonight?" Kevin asked. "I don't know, Kevin." Anna replied. "We've only been seeing each other a month, and I can take care of myself." Kevin insisted, "Anna, I don't like the idea that someone could come back to your home, when I can do something about it."
"What would you do, Kevin?" Anna asked. "I will go back home and get my weapon, and will sleep in the living room on the couch if I have to, while you sleep in your own bed. If someone wants to break in, they'll have go to through me to steal anything or try and injure or kill you." Kevn replied.
That night Kevin stayed the entire night. He wanted the place to appear that everyone was asleep or nobody was home, so he sat in the dark on the couch in Anna's living room.
Midnight came. Then 2AM. Nothing. All was quiet and sound so far. Kevin was starting to get tired and kept nodding off. After awhile, Kevin was sound asleep on the couch, and for awhile it appeared things would be alright.
About 3AM, the wind chimes started to jingle. The living room began to freeze, and the windows frosted up solid. Kevin woke up to shivers, and could hardly believe what was happening. It was the middle of the Summer. Kevin tried to get up and walk towards Anna's bedroom to check on her, but it was just too cold. He could barely move. When he did get to his feet he looked over at the corner of the living room to see this dark figure just staring at him with red eyes.
"Am I dreaming?" Kevin thought to himself. He kept staring into this corner. Kevin got up the nerve and shouted, "What do you want?" The demon in the corner's eyes seemed to smirk, and then pointed towards Anna's bedroom.
After this, books started flying off the bookshelves, and furniture began to move, and lights began to flicker. A wicked laugh enters the room while the vortex of flying debris was in the air. Kevin just staggers backwards towards Anna's bedroom, and tries to get her bedroom door open. I wouldn't budge.
"Anna!" Kevin shouted. "Wake up, we need to get out of here!" There was no answer. Kevin started pounding on the door. "Anna! Wake up!" Kevin pleaded. But the sound of the whirlwind in the living room made it difficult to hear any other noise, much less a shout. Kevin started kicking the door, slamming himself against it, doing whatever he could to get in to save Anna, but something, or someone was just not letting him in.
A minute or two goes by, or so it seemed, and everything just stops. Books and all flying debris just stops in dead air and drops to the ground. The sun now shining through the windows and birds chirping, as if nothing ever happened. Kevin was finally able to get Anna's door open. He goes inside to find Anna missing.
In one last despirate attempt to locate her, Kevin ran through the house shouting her name, "Anna?" .... "Anna!" Kevin runs outside only to notice several others were outside their homes as well just as bewildered and panicked.
