The Criminal Minds two-hour season 7 finale airdate has been announced, along with some more spoilers in the press release about what to expect from Paget Brewster's final hours as Prentiss (possibly for now).

"When a federal bank is under attack, the BAU is called to negotiate a hostage situation. As events unfold in real-time, tensions rise as one of the team becomes a hostage. Also, Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) says goodbye."
According to the press release, "Hit" and "Run" will be airing on May 16. Previous spoilers have revealed that a couple—JJ and Will or Kevin and Garcia—will be getting married to end the finale, meaning that it doesn't seem like there needs to be any worry about the team member who ends up a hostage being in any serious danger. It's not like they'd go hold a wedding if anything actually happened during that hostage situation. The question does remain who will end up the hostage. Could it be Emily Prentiss during her last case with the team?
It has already been revealed that Paget Brewster will be leaving Criminal Minds at the end of the season on her own terms, and hopefully fans will get to see her on their screens again soon, wherever she ends up. They are leaving it open for her to return as Prentiss in the future if she so chooses or the story calls for it and she's available and willing to. Even though she will obviously be missed, Paget Brewster had to make the right decision for herself and at least this time she's leaving on her own terms. Maybe she'll find some success again with another show.
There is that wedding coming up, and considering how things went with Garcia and Kevin when he planned to propose, it seems to be leaning more towards the ones getting married being JJ and Will (which obviously is a good thing since it means more Josh Stewart and more of JJ's family). But could Garcia change her mind about marriage and fix things with Kevin before the end of the season—and plan a wedding?
