Lord of the Rings / Fellowship of the Ring
- Which character do you identify with?
- What's going on with this character at the beginning of the film?
He's happy in his safe life in the Shire…but curious about adventures in the outside world.
- What flaws do they have?
He's naïve, immature and doesn't fully appreciate his current life.
- What is the characters trial?
The Ring of Power is bestowed upon him to destroy – he must endure a long and dangerous journey to save humanity.
- How do they resolve it?
He reluctantly accepts the help of his friends to help him on his journey.
- What happens in the end?
He's riddled with guilt about endangering the life of those around him – he feels the Ring is his burden alone. He tries to separate himself from his travel companions, only to be followed by his best friend Sam. He's happy Sam comes along but still feels unsure about the future.
- How does this connect to you and your life?
Strangely enough, this relates to my life right now in the way of my career. I was laid off in December, forced out of my comfort zone…a journey to the unknown. I haven't wanted to ask for help from friends and former colleagues…wanting to "go it alone" like little Frotto. I have asked for help along the way and gotten TONS of help resulting in countless freelance opportunities and job interviews. Once again, asking for and accepting help pays off big time.  Â
My three things I would regret not accomplishing on my deathbed:
- Travel to Bali
- Publish a book
- Remodel a historic home
