Good Afternoon, Gather!
I wanted to update you all on the problem of missing email notifications that many of you have been experiencing and reporting for several days. We discovered that we were mistakenly added to a few spammer lists that are commonly used by email services. This is a mistaken classification, of course, because Gather only sends email notifications to those who join the site, and members may always adjust their email preferences to opt in or out of alert types. Unfortunately some members who become inactive but never adjust their preferences or request to have their account removed will report any email alerts they receive as spam.
We have filed to de-list Gather from these spammer lists. Depending on your email provider, this might be fixed already, or it might take a few days (we believe Friday at the very latest). If your emails have been held back, you will probably receive them all at once. We're very sorry for this problem, and will explore ways to prevent this from happening again.
Please let us know if by Friday morning you still are not receiving any Gather email alerts.

Perhaps a link could be added to Gather emails that unsubscribes from all notifications? That might help.
Aren't you well and truly tired of asking for the industry standard obvious???
I think we should nominate you for Gather Sainthood.
For some reason, possibly due to very bad coding at the outset, Gather has _never_ quite played well with the rest of the world or even its own members.
Now that is not to say that the PEOPLE who mkae up the TEAM at Gather haven't been great, they have but there is something DEEPLY flawed in a system that simply cannot be brouhgt into standard operating methods. CERTAINLY a unsubscribe link ought to be possible.
I can't guarantee that you will get your missed emails, but we've heard from numerous members that they do them, usually all at once suddenly or in a very short span of time.
You'll have to refresh my memory of the details of the video issue. Whatever it is, it is separate from the issue of missing email notifications.
I found that it is so much easier to add my video to utube then grab it from there and add it to my gather post. Simple and quick. They seem to be easier to view when members do that as well.
Just a thought.
I'm sorry about that, I'll take the opportunity to answer you here. So it sounds like you've started getting some email alerts from Gather. Please monitor your emails throughout today. Let me know if you can cite any specific examples of things that should have triggered an email today, but failed to do so. For example, if a friend publishes a post, and you have selected in your email preferences to be notified when that friend posts.
I did add a link to this post in the Today on Gather post. I will continue to do so for a while.
Thanks for all you do. I know we can be hard to deal with sometimes. Thanks for always being so nice.
Things might still not have been delivering properly as of last Wednesday. I was told that by last Friday at the latest, everything should be working normally. As of this week, do you still notice any trouble?
I helped out covering Ron on Sunday because he couldn't get in to monitor GWE. It took about 1/2 hour and 4 refreshes before I could see the list. After that round, I couldn't get in, but I think someone else carried on.
Wednesday is my editor day for GWE. I'll keep better track and will let you know what I run into. Thanks for your reply.
I don't think the members are being informed of a group post once they're approved (there seems to be no consistency here), but it may be too early to tell.
However, I don't think the members are receiving notification of all of the GWE group posts once I've approved them. Hope this helps.
I am familiar with the difference, but isn't that what your comment is, a comment reply??? I do get them occasionally, like I did receive yours.
But say, for instance, you replied to Sheila's comment below. If she then replied to your comment-reply, you would not be notified of that.
