I tuned into HBO’s “Game Change†hoping to find something different but found it to be more of the same.
Â
When it comes to bashing Sarah Palin I think it’s time to call it what it is – a hate crime. People ought to go to jail for piling on, and this includes Jay Leno who uses her whenever he’s starved for a quick laugh, also David Letterman and of course Bill Maher. Now there’s even an Obama campaign ad that uses her for loathing even though she’s not in this race or any other race.
Â
The mere mention of her name in The New York Times arouses thousands of venal responses against Palin, much of it barely fit to print.
Â
There ought to be a limit as to how much hatred we’re allowed heap on a person, man or woman.
Â
After a measure of hateful name-calling has been reached and exceeded, we approach outright violence and I say this cup of nastiness has been filled to overflowing upon Sarah Palin. Even boxing has rules against hitting below the belt. Somehow there ought to be points deducted or actual disqualification when this scoffing goes non-stop outside the ring.
Â
But some boys never get past schoolyard taunting and adolescent bullying.
Â
Palin Derangement Syndrome may not be quite the same as racism and anti-Semitism – but there is the same odor about it all.
Â
Maher’s excuse for using the C-word is that he’s a comedian and anyway it’s after 11 o’clock. First of all he’s not a comedian. He’s funny only to the trained 12-year olds who make up his live audience and are given sugar and candy for laughing and clapping. Second, is this a new rule? Before 11 o’clock bite your tongue -- but after 11 pm anything goes? Glad we got that straight.
Â
I had assumed that after she lost out some four years ago, back when her upper end of the ticket put America to sleep – what’s his name? – there’d be a moratorium on trashing Sarah Palin. After all, who is Sarah Palin and what did she do? Did she hijack a plane and fly it into one of our buildings? If so, she’d get much more respect. President George W. Bush would visit her house of worship and call it a religion of peace and President Barack Obama would bow down before her king.
Â
Rapists and murderers and drug pushers and wife beaters get much lighter sentences and we even do all we can to rehabilitate them. No rehab and no such luck for Sarah Palin who did none of the above except run for national office as a Conservative Republican and this…this can never be forgiven…obviously.

Idiots must be protected under the statute because maher was talking sedition prosecution when the tea party was starting their antics against obama.
The standards are different for liberals.
Palin is also a public figure. It's almost impossible to libel a public figure without proving malice. Of course, when it comes to Palin's intelligence and moral character there's no need to libel her. Just sticking to the facts is more than enough.
BTW, I've heard lots worse stuff about Obama and I'm not concerned about "hate speech" about him, not even Obama Waffles. He's about as public a public figure as you can be in this country. Like other public figures he's a sitting duck for any loony.
So I get ripped off at the pump and the tax office either way.
The problem with Palin is not that she says Conservative things... it's that she keeps saying them in the role of spokesperson. She gets up in front of groups and acts as if she represents them, makes announcements and pronouncements and generally keeps herself ripe for refutation (or refudiation if you prefer). Then folks come along and object to the "Palin-bashing." Well, there's a cure for that... She shuts up... everybody shuts up. Oh, it'll take a while, but it'll go away. She keeps yattering in public... she gets to see herself mocked on TV.
