The Facts In The Case Of George Zimmerman

It seems that no matter how much evidence comes to light that George Zimmerman is in fact guilty of murder (not self defense as he claims) some people will side with him (and the worthless cops who refuse to arrest him) no matter what.  At this point I'm not sure if these people are racists, authority worshipers, or authority worshiping racists, but it really doesn't make much difference.  For those of you who care about the facts here's what we know so far.

3 weeks ago 17 year old Trayvon Martin was walking to his dad's house in a gated community after walking to the store to get some snacks for himself and his little brother.  28 year old George Zimmerman (the self appointed captain of the neighborhood watch) saw Trayvon and thought he looked suspicious, so he called the police.

The "suspicious" behavior that Zimmerman reported was that Trayvon was just "walking around looking about."  The dispatcher told him he didn't need to follow Trayvon but he did anyway.  So now we have a 28 year old crazy guy following this 17 year old kid home.

Zimmerman confronted Trayvon carrying a 9 millimeter handgun.  Trayvon had no weapons on him, just a bag of skittles and a can of iced tea.  There were several 911 calls from neighbors about what was going on outside.  You can hear Trayvon screaming for help in the background until the gunshot goes off.  The tapes as well as statements from witnesses contradict Zimmerman's claim of self defense.  Before these tapes were released Zimmerman's father released a statement saying that his son did not follow or confront Trayvon.

Still some people side with Zimmerman on his claim that the killing was self defense, even though he is twice the size of his victim.  It seems to me that even if Trayvon had attacked Zimmerman (which would be understandable considering this creeper was following him home) Zimmerman could have defended himself without using lethal force.  But that doesn't matter much anyway since witness testimonies don't support Zimmerman's story in the first place, well unless you count the testimony of an officer who "corrected" the testimony of a witness, telling her that it was Zimmerman rather than Martin who cried for help.

The officer in charge of the crime scene also failed to arrest a police lieutenant's son back in 2010 who was videotaped beating a black homeless man.  The attacker was later arrested after the story got out, but it's pretty clear that there is a history of police misconduct in this department.

Before the shooting Zimmerman had been obsessed with crime in the neighborhood, constantly patrolling for anyone he thought looked suspicious.  He called police 46 times since January 1, 2012 for various reasons.  Neighbors complained that Zimmerman used aggressive tactics as the self appointed neighborhood watch captain.  Back in 2005 Zimmerman was charged with assaulting an officer, though the charges were since dropped.  Of course he also shot a 17 year old boy and wasn't charged at all, so take that for what it's worth.

As for Trayvon he had no criminal record, and his teacher described him as "an A and B student who majored in cheerfulness."  Even still there will be people who for whatever reason side with Zimmerman and the worthless police who refuse to arrest him for murder.  I guess in their minds people in authority can do no wrong.  It must be nice to be so naive.
