Selena Gomez has got to be one of the most sincere Hollywood personalities around these days. She even got yelled at by staff on the set of the movie she's filming—Spring Breakers—in order to make some fans' dreams come true.
According to a report from Pinellas Beaches Patch, this story will make you love Selena even if you're not a fan of her music, Wizards of Waverly Place, or any of the films she's done. You'll love her even if you're not a fan of her boyfriend, Justin Bieber.
It seems a mom from New Port Richey, Florida, is a huge Justin Bieber fan. Hearing that he'd been on the set of Spring Breakers in St. Petersburg—about a two-hour drive from New Port Richey—Derisa Tuttle packed up her mom and her two kids one morning and made the drive to the set in hopes of catching a glimpse of the Biebs.
Tuttle, her mom, her 17-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son hung out on the perimeter of the set all day. Finally around 4PM filming began. Tuttle saw "girls in bikinis, guys with tanned bodies and movie producers," as preparation was quickly made to shoot a scene.
"I looked for Bieber, but he wasn't around, so I stayed and watched as they started running the same scene over and over," she says.
Certain by this point that Justin Bieber was nowhere nearby, Tuttle and her family became intrigued with watching Selena. No cameras were allowed on the set, however, and at that point Selena was absorbed in her work so she wasn't interacting with any of the fans who watched the film shoot.
Derisa Tuttle decided it was time to pack up her family and make the two-hour (longer at this point, with heavy I-75 late afternoon traffic) drive back to New Port Richey.
That all changed when her 4-year-old spotted Selena. And she wasn't on the set.
"Look Mommy, Selena Gomez is right there!"
It was indeed Selena. And she was likely accompanied by Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson, because Tuttle said they saw girls on mopeds.
Can you imagine how exciting this must have been—after waiting all day to see Justin Bieber, to at the very least get a glimpse of his girlfriend? Still, the Tuttle's figured they'd never get any close to Selena than that, so they continued with their thoughts of heading home.
And that's when the unthinkable happened.
Selena got off her moped and walked right over to the Tuttle family—got right up close to her 4-year-old son and said how cute he was.
"I know. People say he looks like Justin," Tuttle said.
At this point it seems Selena was being yelled at by crew members to get back on her moped and resume filming. Tuttle apologized for getting her in trouble, but she said it was okay. She even took the time to pose for pictures with the family.
Derisa Tuttle even shared a secret with Selena that not too many people know.
"Hey, is it weird that I am a mom of six and have a room set aside just for your boyfriend?"
Selena laughed.
"Aww, really? That's cool," she said.
Derisa Tuttle is now completely sold on Selena, and it's got absolutely nothing to do with the fact that she's Justin Bieber's girlfriend. Derisa has found out what so many others who have had brief encounters with the Wizards of Waverly Place star and Love You Like A Love Song singer have learned. Selena is a real person.
"I'm a fan because she made me, a mom of six, know that in all the business and statuses of Hollywood, there are people who take time out to notice cute kids from New Port Richey, Florida," Tuttle says.
"She's someone who'll take time to talk to 17-year-old girls who adore her. She's someone who'll get yelled at by her employers, just so she can take a picture with a mom who's come from far away to see the glamour of Hollywood in St. Pete Beach."
That's the true essence of Selena Gomez. No wonder Justin Bieber, and so many fans, love her for her generous heart! Don't you wish even more Hollywood celebrities had the kindness and compassion that this young lady is known for?
