Is Liam Hemsworth intimidated by Robert Pattinson? It sure seems that way. When the Australian actor was asked on the red carpet at the Hunger Games première if he would be the "next" Pattinson, he stuttered and stammered and finally became so tongue-tied one would have thought he'd been hitting his girlfriend's bong. Or as one RPattz fan site politely put it, "...he seemed unsure...about stepping into Rob's shoes."
"I don't know," Liam muttered with a nervous laugh. "I don't know—He's...uh... I don't know...I..uh...I have no idea."
Poor Liam Hemsworth. Of course, in all fairness to Miley Cyrus' man, Robert Pattinson is one of the 2 great heart-throbs of this era. He's going to be a hard act to follow for anybody. So what should Liam have said? What could he have said? If he'd compared himself favorably to Rob, he'd have sounded either like a consummate egotist or a wannabe follower. A more self-effacing response would have seemed like false modesty. Maybe waffling was the best strategy. Or perhaps it wasn't a strategy at all. Maybe Liam just isn't used to being interviewed without La Cyrus there holding his hand.
Ouch.
Oh well, only time and the movie going public will tell whether Liam Hemsworth will become the next R-Pattz. Hopefully, he'll ignore all the crazy comparisons, and, like his supremely individualistic lady-love, he'll just be himself.
