What or who is really behind the slow recovery of the economy and the current high price of oil, which translates into high gas prices? I strongly believe that the GOP and the powers that drive it might be behind recovery of the U.S. economy. It is clear and transparent when you ask yourself; who has an investing interest in the failure of the current Administration? Who will benefit greatly in the continued downward spiral of the U.S. economy? Do the GOP’s pundits and leaders rants against the “Obama Administration” hide a much more sinister mindset, a mindset that would cause the GOP’s very own to hinder the recovery of our country, all as a means to regain their strangle hold on Washington and the country? Believe so.

Your premise was correct then, and it's correct now. "Never waste a good crisis," doesn't apply only to politics (or Democrats).
They've always been against labor unions but unions have put so many workers into the middle class, and most those wage earnings were spent in the local economy. As the labor unions are going away so is the middle class and vibrant local economies.
