Jessica Simpson's baby name has already been revealed, and she's not naming her daughter Butter Pop Tart, Tequila, or Slutty Brownie after a few of her favorite things. The moniker she and sperm donor Eric Johnson allegedly chose is still a little unusual, however.
According to In Touch (via Zap2It), Jess and Eric chose the name M
axwell. So did Jess decide to name her baby girl after her favorite kind of coffee, or, worse yet, did she choose the name because the child was conceived while she listened to a song by Maxwell? "Fortunate" is pretty sexual, after all. Then there's always the chance that she was a fan of The Nanny and named her baby after Mr. Sheffield.
Actually, Jessica Simpson has a nice, normal reason for wanting to name her daughter Maxwell - it is Eric's grandmother's maiden name and also his middle name. The couple plans to call her "Maxi" for short, but they might want to opt for "Max" instead to avoid any maxi pad jokes.
Of course, Jess allegedly tossed around a few silly names before settling on one that isn't embarrassing - one of her ideas was actually Zinfandel, which isn't too far off from Tequila. Perhaps Jessica Simpson opted against that name because her baby is obviously a teetotaler. Jess claims that she discovered she was pregnant right before she was about to go on a drinking binge, but she felt strangely guilty about it. Sounds like Papa Joe will be very proud of his new granddaughter; she's already trying to preach to her momma to clean up her act from the womb.
So what do you think of the name Maxwell - are you glad that Jess picked something normal, or would you have preferred Zinfandel? Also keep in mind that this is an In Touch report, meaning that there could be no truth to the alleged name choice (so there's still hope that Jess will come up with something crazy).
