Dwight Howard may be trying to put an end to all the NBA trade rumors. An Orlando Magic trade of Howard may also not happen now, simply because the All-Star center has stated he wants to remain in Orlando for the rest of the season. Just when you thought things couldn't get any odder when it comes to NBA trade rumors, Howard goes and throws a wrench into the whole situation.
According to ESPN, Howard has stated that he has informed the Orlando Magic that he wants to stay with the team for the rest of the season. Howard stated that, "We've been talking, like I said, for a while. I told them I want to finish this season out and give our team, give our fans some hope for the future. But I feel they have to roll the dice. It might be tough, but I feel we've got a great opportunity. But they've got to roll it."
Those are mixed words to be sure, with Howard really putting a new spin on how to control every action a franchise decides to take. This is starting to seem like a gambit, much like the ones where Carmelo Anthony wanted out of Denver and LeBron James wanted out of Cleveland, but in this instance, Howard is giving his team and fans a potentially false hope to go along with everything.
So now Orlando is faced with a difficult decision about what to do with Dwight Howard. The team can keep him on the roster to try to convince him to stay at the end of the season, but he may be doing this just to make sure that the New Jersey Nets don't trade away assets that he wants to play with next year.
What should the Orlando Magic do about a Dwight Howard trade now? Should the NBA trade rumors die down now, or is this just going to spin them in a new direction?
