Randy Moss has come to terms with a one-year agreement to play for the 49ers. Two seasons ago signing Moss would be a no-brainer but, coming off of the drama filled season he is coming off of... Not as easy a decision.
A sure fire hall of famer adds the instant deep threat to this already dangerous team. He still has the speed to stretch the defense and make them not stuff the box.
His weakness is his willingness to learn and run the route properly. If the play is to him he is running the deep route as well as anybody and wants the QB to just put it up there. God forbid the play is a run to the opposite side of the field; you are lucky to even see his hands touch a defender's pads.
If you tell me Alex Smith is not returning to San Fransisco and you and Manning have agreed on a deal I say fine. That is a great signing. However if you bring back Alex Smith and give him "team cancer" Randy Moss who plays his own game I think it will be detrimental to the team's success. Alex Smith was greatly accurate and effective last season and now to bring in a deep threat who will force Smith to air it out a lot more doesn't seem like a great idea.
My verdict is still waiting for the QB to be signed but, if it is Alex Smith I do not care for the signing.
