The NHL trade deadline has passed and several teams made some adjustments to their rosters, but several of the big name stars stayed put and that could lead to a spending frenzy this off-season.
Zach Parise of New Jersey was one of the top players that was rumored on the move, but the Devils didn't make any moves and now will likely lose their high scoring winger this summer as the team has little room under the salary cap to make him a legitimate offer.
Ryan Sutter was another player most experts thought would be moved by the trade deadline, but the defenseman wasn't moved by Nashville, and now he will become the top defensive free agent on the market after the season ends. Sutter is very physical and a shut-down defender and will get paid good money when he hits the free agent market in July.
This NHL off-season will be very interesting for several teams, especially for those who have some money to spend as the talent available is terrific. Look for several players to move to new teams this summer as they not only look for the money, but also the chance to win a Stanley Cup title with their new teams.
