Ashley Olsen, a young woman who has already made her mark in both the film and the fashion industries, has shut the door on appearing in another feature film. Ashley's last movie was the 2004 release New York Minute that she starred in alongside fraternal twin Mary-Kate Olsen. Prior to this last co-venture, the dynamic duo had appeared in dozens of straight-to-video movies and several TV shows. Her current eight-year hiatus has led Ashley to decide that she would never go back to life in front of a movie camera.
Given the success of the clothing lines Elizabeth and James and The Row, both helmed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, it makes good business sense for Ashley to focus on this aspect of the twins mega-empire instead of devoting time and energy to film projects that may or may not succeed. The petite fashionista said, "It just felt right to move away."
However, fans of the Olsen family's silver screen ventures have little to fear. Mary-Kate has appeared in multiple projects since her last twin-centric film, including a guest appearance on Weeds, while younger sister Elisabeth has burned up the red carpet at film festivals over the past two years promoting multiple indie flicks.
