A 900-year-old heart has vanished from Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland. The relic belonged to the city's patron saint, St. Laurence O'Toole. It seems like this was a theft, but nothing else was stolen.
The 900-year-old heart had been kept in a wooden box that was shaped like a heart, and it was bolted to the wall, which means that whoever took the item had to have gone to a bit of trouble to get it down and out of the cathedral.
There is some mystery surrounding the disappearance too. The heart-shaped box disappeared between Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Interestingly, there was no sign of forced entry at the church, which makes this seem like it could be an inside job.
Of course, perhaps the relic was taken in a supernatural way. Maybe St. Laurence O'Toole is unhappy about what is happening in Dublin, Ireland. Do you think this is possible, or is it more likely that somebody took this ancient heart for other reasons?
Whatever happened to this 900-year-old heart, hopefully somebody finds it soon. It is terrible that it has been taken especially after it has been preserved for so many years. Why would somebody want to steal it? Could they possibly sell it without the Church and authorities finding out? It seems unlikely.
