I agree with him.
It has long been obvious to me that this is the reason the political arena is filled with contenders who are so seriously lacking in character! How candidates running for public office can garner so many fanatically loyal followers has ever been one of the most perplexing mysteries to me, when they are so obviously self-centered thieves and liars. People seem to have such a serious need to put all of their hope, enthusiasm, and blind devotion into a 'leader' that says all the right things and makes all the right noises that they are quite prepared to overlook such shortcomings of character!
I thought we were connected, as well. My view of politicians, or anybody in the habit of decieving the people, is generally shaded by contempt, though so many of the people have such a compulsion for blind devotion that overshadows their desire to know the truth, any attempt to enlighten them is much like Sisyphus with his rock!
