Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is probably the most watched woman in the world—is she or isn't she pregnant? Fans all around the world are hoping so. But instead, the duchess has a new puppy. Oops! Is that what everyone wanted? No, but Lupo might be just the right new experience for the duchess, reports the Belfast Telegraph, before she takes on royal mothering duties. There is nothing like a puppy, to provide "emotional benefits".
Actually, the crush is off baby-expectations for the next few months, at lea
st. Right now, Prince William is half a world away, taking some advanced helicopter training. And Kate Middleton's grandmother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth, celebrates her Diamond Jubilee this year. It wouldn't do to upstage the Queen's 60th anniversary by producing a new heir to the throne right in the middle of things. Who would get the most attention? Who gets it, anyway?
A puppy can provide quite a bit of practice toward parenthood, for a young couple such as Prince William and Kate Middleton, and many young parents suggest getting the dog first. A bit of care and training—keep those shoes off the floor—and a puppy becomes a grown, well-mannered companion and member of the family. No one says that about a two-year-old human. And few moms want to bring a new puppy into the mix, when they already have that toddler human, or two or three, so it could be puppy now, or wait until years from now.
Of course, Kate Middleton won't be wiping up every puddle or changing every diaper herself. So, either way works. "Enjoy your puppy," Kate. And keep on doing what you're doing.
