Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon is reportedly suffering from an autoimmune disease that is similar to lupus. First hospitalized back in January with mild kidney failure, he has faced a plethora of medical issues since then.
According to a report from Hollywood Life, Mariah performed on March 1st, and dedicated her song Always Be My Baby to her husband. She even gave a health update to her fans.
"Nick is doing great!" she told the audience.
Nick Cannon is finally going public with his health issues, but still isn't being particularly specific.
"They kind of say [my] autoimmune [disease] is—like a lupus type of thing, but no one else in my family has it," Nick said in a recent interview.
People.com says that while no actual name for Cannon's autoimmune disease has been reported, that the kidney issues he suffered in January are a direct result of the disease.
Cannon suffered blood clots shortly after being hospitalized for the kidney issues, and says that he was most frightened then.
"The blood clot thing was probably the scariest because ... I've known people who have passed away from that," he says.
Mariah Carey must be a wreck. Many autoimmune diseases are fatal, and without knowing exactly which one Nick Cannon has, there is no way to know whether they are facing something of that caliber not. All autoimmune diseases are very serious illnesses, however, and some life changes are no doubt in store for the entire family.
"I'm just trying to make sure I put my health first," Nick says.
Family members, friends, and fans are no doubt keeping the entire Carey-Cannon family in their prayers. Nick and Mariah could potentially be facing a long road ahead.
