The body of missing firefighter Jerry Perdomo has been discovered in a wooded area near Jackson, Maine. A Maine State Police affidavit said that the death of Perdono was related to drugs, an unpaid debt, guns and previous threats.
An ongoing dispute between Perdomo and his accused killer, Daniel Porter, escalated when Perdomo drove to Maine from his home in Florida. It would be the last time firefighter Jerry Perdomo would make the trip. He met Porter's girlfriend, Cheyanne Nowak, at a truck stop in Newburgh and followed her to Porter's father's home in Jackson, where police say he was murdered.
Porter and Nowak were interviewed in Connecticut, where Porter said he had gone to visit family because " it might be the last time he might see them as a free man." Officials said that during the interview, "Porter's eyes welled up with tears" after police told him of the evidence they had, reports Click Orlando. Of course they did. Odd how people almost always regret their crimes...after they are caught.
The circumstances of this crime are all too familiar. Drugs, illicit affairs, money, and murder. The conclusion is not be entirely unexpected, nor should it be, but that doesn't make it less difficult to accept, especially for Perdomo's wife and family. Firefighter Jerry Perdomo was no paragon of virtue, but he surely didn't deserve to be murdered and dumped like garbage, in the woods of Maine.
