A lot of people accuse the girls of Teen Mom for being famous for nothing more than getting pregnant at a young age. They feel that these girls hit it big with a television show and essentially do nothing. However, that simply isn't true. Many of the girls have used their experience to talk to other girls about the hardships of teen parenthood.

One of those girls is Maci Bookout. Besides caring for her son Bentley and attending school, she also takes time out of her busy schedule to go to colleges around the country and tell her story. Recently, she visited Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania and she talked about a lot of things including why she continues to do the show.
However, when speaking to the crowd, she divulged some details about her relationship with ex Ryan Edwards, the father of her son. She talked about why she initially fell for him and about their relationship saying:
"I was the one who talked him in to having sex with me because apparently since I was a virgin he was scared of me. I thought there was something wrong with me but, you know, I finally talked him in to it."
Obviously that isn't something MTV showed on Teen Mom and by telling other girls that part of her story, it could definitely help them and their self-esteem. Many girls have questions about their sexuality and often wonder if there is something wrong with them. It helps to hear from someone that they look up to that they are not the only one's who feel that way. People tend to take what she says to heart because she is just like them. She's normal and isn't some big time celebrity. Essentially she is real and that is what people like in a role model.
Do you think that by divulging details about her relationship, Maci Bookout becomes more relatable?
