I was a chubby little kid up until the time I began
Although I don't remember plundering our families'
milk supply, I was told that every winter when the cream on
the milk bottles popped the cardboard tops, somehow I got
out onto our front porch, whisked the frozen popsicles of
cream that had pushed from the milk bottles and devoured
all the nourishment before my mom could get the bottles
into our ice box.
Ha!Ha! After I was told how the rest of the family had to
drink blue white milk because it lacked the cream after my
abscounding with my naturally frozen pops, I told them that
they should have kept a closer eye on their precocious child.
Up until about six years ago Bill and I still had a porch milk
delivery by a local farmer and every winter when I would
retrieve the milk from the milk box, I would envision those
little paper lids frozen into fat popsicles.
At that time however, when we were still having milk
delivery the tops were crimped aluminum.
I still have six glass quart bottles in a metal wire frame
holder sitting on the porch. Brings back lots of memories.
