Sacha Baron Cohen of Borat fame will now reportedly be appearing at the 2012 Oscars on Sunday. Did the Academy have some sort of sudden change of heart?
According to a report from Hollywood Life, the actor tweeted his followers as his character in The Dictator, to share his excitement over what he perceives as a win.
"VICTORY IS OURS! Today the Mighty Nation of Wadiya triumphed over the Zionist snakes of Hollywood. Evil and all those who made Satan their protector were vanquished and driven into the Pacific Sea. What I am trying to say here is that the Academy have surrendered and sent over two tickets and a parking pass!" he tweeted.
So why the sudden change of heart on behalf of the Academy? Or did they not officially prohibit him from coming in character in the first place, as previously reported?
Brian Grazer is the producer of the Academy Awards. He had the following to say about the decision to allow Sacha Baron Cohen to attend the Oscars.
"We absolutely respect him as an artist and he's allowed to come," he said. "He's coming."
There was some talk about Cohen threatening the Academy with legal action if he wasn't allowed to attend. Do you suppose he carried through on his threats and the Academy caved?
It will certainly be interesting to see what kind of a spectacle Sacha Baron Cohen makes of himself at the 2012 Academy Awards on Sunday. Will you be watching to see what he does and how his actions are handled if need be?
