Jose Calderon trade rumors continue to surround the Toronto Raptors. The question have become whether the Raptors will trade Calderon or simply hold on to one of the most underrated point guards in the league. If he were playing in a major NBA city, it's hard to believe that he wouldn't get enough attention to become an NBA All-Star. Such is the drawback for some players to play north of the border, but it hasn't stopped NBA executives from trying to pry Calderon away from the Raptors.
The Globe and Mail talked to Raptors head coach Dwane Casey, who stated that Calderon is drawing a lot of interest around the league. It seems that many other teams have finally taken notice and have discovered that there is a pretty good point guard playing up in Toronto. He is certainly a skilled enough player to make a team like the Los Angeles Lakers even better, but the trick is to find a package that would actually improve the Raptors.
This is the seventh year for Calderon in the league and he is currently averaging 11 points and 8.9 assists per game. He has had to step up a lot as the Raptors deal with injuries and that included putting up spectacular numbers in back-to-back games against the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks. He averaged 27.5 points, 7.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals during those two games, causing two of the biggest markets in the league to take notice. Now every team that needs a point guard is calling up to Toronto to find out what it would take to acquire Calderon.
It doesn't appear that the Raptors are close to parting ways with Calderon, but next year is his final season under contract with the team.
Do you think that the Toronto Raptors should trade Jose Calderon while his stock is this high? Which team would be the perfect fit for someone like Calderon?
