Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, liked Essie's Allure pale pink nail polish so much she wore it for her wedding. With white on white for a color scheme and an Alexander McQueen dress trimmed in lace, Kate needed nails that were subtle and clear and fresh. Teamed with the bride's dainty and ladylike demeanor, the Allure shade was perfect. The duchess is only one of a huge following of celebrities, reports the Chester Chronicle, who swear by the polish line. Think Jennifer Aniston, Rihanna, and Cheryl Cole. Obviously, it suits all kinds of women.
This is Kate's go-to nail polish, for then and for now. Essie is high-gloss, for a dependable shine. It does not easily chip, which is so important for weddings and other important occasions. And while Kate Middleton favors pale, nude-look colors, the 300 or so available shades offer something for everyone.
And everyone can have it, because Essie—counting, no doubt—on the "Duchess effect" is offering a wedding collection based on the famous Duchess of Cambridge favorite shade. No problem for others, though. For a slightly bolder bridal look, the collection offers "Borrowed and Blue"—a milky baby blue, with enough pigment to show all the way down the aisle. The bold red First Dance is rich with color, also, but the pink-to-nude shades are too soft to show much color. That's just right for the Kate Middleton-type bride.
Millions of women follow every trend the Duchess of Cambridge starts. Nail polish is an affordable way to bring a princess look into your own life. And if a wedding is in the picture, so much the better. Maybe Jennifer Aniston will opt for Kate's favorite shade.
