Invitations were sent out via email to the graduating high school class of 1965. It was to be held in a rented hall in the same borough that the school was in. Former students received this mail in 1995, thirty years later. Most of them kept their yearbooks and thumbed through the pages to get familiar with old names and faces they once knew. The huge parking lot filled up quick that Saturday evening on a warm June night at 7 PM. A live band was there with food and drinks to be served. Peggy recognized a former class clown named Billy, even though he had a beard. When she approached him, he remembered her also from a few classes they attended together. "I never forgot those beautiful blue eyes", she said to him. "I never forgot your beautiful green eyes either", he replied as they both laughed out loud. They ate and drank together as the band played oldies from 1965. One particular slow song stood out in their memories as they had danced to it before on their first date back then. It was "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers. "May I have this second dance with you"? he said with a serious face. Her smile answered his question. They now lived in different boroughs but exchanged phone numbers before the class reunion was over. In a matter of speaking, a second date began the following weekend. The now 48 year olds felt like kids again as some spark was rekindled. They often slept over each others apartments on weekends as a special connection continued. It was new years eve at a club they had went to that would change the rest of this time here on earth for the both of them. Billy opened up a small black box and took out a ring. "I love you Peggy and will you please marry me"? he asked. Her smile answered his question. There happened to be an oldies jukebox in the club they attended. A song from 1965 was there as the couple had their third dance together....Maybe a reunion was needed by some high school to complete something that was left undone. And so it was for Peggy and Billy.
