Actress Eva Longoria has no interest in being like Sarah Jessica Parker, the star of Sex in the City. The actress is allegedly ruling out her participation in a big screen movie version of the hit show Desperate Housewives.
SJP is famous for playing her character Carrie Bradshaw on both the television series and in the movie versions of the sexy show. All her co-stars came along for the ride when the franchise transitioned from simply being a TV show to making chick flick movies that became silver screen sensations nationwide.
But Longoria [who has already been playing the Desperate Housewives character Gabrielle Solis for a very long time] is expressing hesitation about participating on a new movie project.
Even if it could bring women across the country into theaters (rather than enjoying the plot twists and crazy storyline from the comfort of their own homes) and earn her a small fortune in the meantime, the actress says she just does not want to do it -- and has been very clear in telling fans why.
Regarding the real reason she does not think a movie franchise based on the show would be wise, Longoria says that the characters have become so real to the fans that she thinks that ending the story on an open-ended note and keeping it as a television viewer experience to remember in the past tense is wise.
After eight wonderful years on air, the TV show is in its last season. According to Entertainmentwise, Longoria claims , "I'm not open to a movie, no. I wouldn't even pay money to go to a movie when I could see these characters and these girls in my own home. It would be nice to close this chapter."
Longoria is quite candid about how she feels the writers should end the series that has brought her so much fame already (even without the silver screen accolades that would surely come if she agreed to take part in a new movie project).
"I hope the ending is a little open-ended. Because we want the audience to be able to hope and wish for whatever they want for the [TV] characters..." she tells E! Online.
What do you think? Would making a movie series based on the hit show Desperate Housewives be the type of project Eva Longoria should take part in or would the film makers be better off casting younger actresses?
