Who won the Republican debate in Arizona?

Who won the Republican debate in Arizona? All of them as far as I can see. The three leaders: Santorum, Romney and Gingrich were all on the same page. The loser in this debate was President Obama.

All three candidates were firm and strong. They have plans to get a handle on Iran and the price of oil. Only Ron Paul said unpopular things. Paul was booed when he said he would not support Israel in attacking Iran.

Paul then explained that he wants the Congress to okay a war, and then he received claps, but he looked the weakest of the four candidates.

All four pointed out the dangers of giving this next four years to President Obama. President Obama is responsible for Iran's power. They also accused Syria of being a puppet of Iran, and accused President Obama of being afraid of Iran.

There are a few minutes left in the debate, but I agree they are all coming out fairly strong, possibly excepting Rick Santorum. He got booed quite a bit too, Carol.

One may see Paul as less aggressive or 'weak' but surely the only rational one on that issue... as he pointed out, the Constitution must be followed and our economic crisis is a more serious threat to national security.

Now that I think more about it this was a bad night for Santorum. And Gingrich, since he failed achieve the magic he did in South Carolina, which he desperately needs to even stay in the race...

Romney will make it to the nomination, however slowly...

Actually, the word is Newt won. But you are right, he did not win big like in SC. I think you are right about the eventual result.

Depending on the source... most of what I'm seeing says Romney won... the bar was low for him; he just needed to come through without gaffes and take down Santorum a bit, which he did both easily.

Romney does seem to have the media support, but I thought they all did well except for Paul.

How so? Santorum was the one constantly on the defensive, and he got more boos than anyone else.

I agree with you about Paul, Matthew. I sure wish the American people were charmed by common sense as much as we are by all the wasted fluff that plagues our political system. Then Paul would be on top...

AZ gettin' rowdy for Ron Paul!!!
At the CNN GOP debate yesterday in AZ...the ground game pretty much proved that Arizona is all about Ron Paul. The fans for the other candidates were totally MIA.

well, Ron Paul continues to increase his support wherever he goes! People are listening to what he is saying - EVERYWHERE - not just in a debate. He's NOT a 'politician' like the rest...

Matthew, The more I think about the sanctions, the more I think they are bad. They make the people hate us more, and they will never make them give in on the nuclear weapon.

Yes, exactly! It can actually unite the people around their government, not something we want in Iran. There's that saying 'when goods don't cross borders, troops will', or something like that...

Ron Paul Wins CNN Arizona Republican Debate

In the final Republican debate before Super Tuesday, and perhaps the last of the race, Texas Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) made quick work of his opponents.

Though not known for his stellar oratory abilities or powerful stage presence, the libertarian gadfly stood out among the remaining candidates during Wednesday night's contest for the same reason he has been able to stay in the race thus far: his consistent and convincing defense of free markets and small government.

Both the pundits and Santorum have this conspiracy theory about Paul and Romney working together.

Based on Paul's consistent, independent record, it's extremely difficult to see him endorsing Mitt Romney anytime soon (if ever).

I keep hearing snippets about this, but I agree Matthew, I just can't see Ron Paul supporting Mitt, UNLESS. Is there a chance Mitt might offer him a V.P. spot?
