Fans don't see much in common between Kris Humphries and Lamar Odom. They do however share a way of quietly playing critical roles on their teams. Kobe Bryant wants his team to make a move. Would he get behind bringing Humphries to Hollywood?
Kobe knows Odom and Khloe Kardashian from Los Angeles Lakers title years
Kobe never wanted Lamar and his wife, Khloe Kardashian, to leave in the first place. He voiced his opposition when the Los Angeles Lakers tried trading Odom to New Orleans in a deal for Chris Paul. The protest grew even louder when the 33-year-old shipped out to join the reigning world champion Dallas Mavericks. Not only had the Lakers let their best bench player join the very team that knocked them out of the playoffs in 2011, but Kobe had lost a vital buffer between him and the burden of carrying the team alone. Now Lamar Odom has reinvented himself in Dallas, Khloe by his side, and Kobe Bryant has endured his toughest season in half a decade. He constantly bickers with management over getting him some help, but no moves have happened. Is there anywhere the Lakers haven't looked that might quell the anger of their best player?
Humphries has overcome Kim Kardashian to play vital role with New Jersey Nets
Kris Humphries earned a lot of hatred and boos for his disastrous marriage with Kim Kardashian. Amazingly, much like Bryant, he hasn't let the pending divorce affect his play. A year after posting his best career stats, Humphries is on pace to top even those numbers this season. That he's been doing it playing for the pathetic New Jersey Nets makes it even more impressive. The question then becomes how interested should Kobe and the Lakers be. Their primary focus has gone to finding a star point guard or center to pair with Bryant, but the one glaring hole they continue ignoring is the sixth man spot. That was the slot Odom filled with the Lakers and became a key in their championship runs. Humphries may start with the Nets, but he could quickly become the best bench player in the NBA if he went to Los Angeles in a trade. His youth, big body, and improving game are exactly what the Lakers want around their future Hall of Fame leader.
A Kardashian reject is no worse than the Vanessa Bryant and Pau Gasol talk
Laker fans are likely the first to say they're tired of the mess about Kobe's wife, Vanessa Bryant, and their power forward turned teddy bear, Pau Gasol. At this point they might even welcome a Kim Kardashian reject like Humphries over the circus that won't leave town. Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian aren't coming back. If the Los Angeles Lakers want to get Kobe Bryant that sixth title, they better start thinking outside the box. No player goes further outside than Kris Humphries.
