Robert Pattinson reportedly believes he will lose quite a few fans after they see him playing a 'man-whore' role. His role in the upcoming Bel Ami finds him bedding married women throughout the city in rather rapid succession.
According to a report from Showbiz Spy, Rob fears he will alienate droves of Twilight fans (which comprise his major fan base, of course) after they see him assume the role of Georges Duroy.
"No one is going to like me in that movie," he says. "My character is just like a man-whore! That is why it is fun to play it because it is a totally a-moral character."
So what is it about this character that will shed such a negative light on the Twilight hunk and boyfriend of Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart? Can his character really be all that bad?
"Anyone who gives him anything he will just take it and stab them in the back afterwards," Rob explains.
Well, that certainly doesn't sound like the kind of person most people would care to befriend--but will they really stop liking Robert Pattinson over it?
"He has absolutely no redeeming characteristics the entire way through the movie and even then people just keep rewarding him the entire time. But I think that is how the world is most of the time," Rob adds.
Is some of Rob's own cynicism coming out? Hopefully he isn't really channeling any of his Bel Ami character into his real life!
Maybe Robert Pattinson needs a quick getaway with Kristen Stewart to reclaim his own personality and escape that of Georges Duroy. Once the tabloids get wind of a romantic weekend with Kristen, their hearts will likely soften no matter how much of a 'man-whore' Georges Duroy portrays.
Do you think you'll think less of Rob if you see him playing an unsavory character?
