The Pau Gasol trade talks are going to continue; this is according to Los Angeles Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak. The Gasol trade rumors have taken away from the team continuity during the 2011-12 NBA season, even frustrating superstar Kobe Bryant along the way. It seems now though, that the Lakers are very intent on finding a way to trade Gasol and improve the roster for another run at the NBA finals.
Bryant went on a rant about the team needing to make a decision about whether Gasol was going to get traded or not and for some reason Kupchak decided to respond to it publicly. Kupchak stated that, "As general manager of the Lakers, I have a responsibility to ownership, our fans and the players on this team to actively pursue opportunities to improve the team for this season and seasons to come." This doesn't seem like the wisest course of action for the struggling Lakers though.

This is a mistake by the front office of the Lakers that follows up the serious mistake of undervaluing Lamar Odom and then trading him for peanuts before the season even began. Now the team is dangling one of the best big men in the game (Gasol) and will likely get low-balled from other teams as a result. It doesn't seem like this situation will ever get resolved until Gasol is traded, possibly weakening this team and losing one of the best offensive players the team has had outside of Bryant since Shaquille O'Neal got traded to the Miami Heat.
Now it looks like it is just a matter of time until Gasol gets shipped out to another team. Do you agree with Kupchak making his thoughts public like this? Should the Los Angeles Lakers stop shopping Pau Gasol and apologize to him for all of this drama?

First Odom and now......
I still can't--for the life of me--figure out why they threw off Odom.
He doesn't really fit in, in Dallas, in any case--but that is, of course, beside the point.
With Odom, they still had a shot.
Without Odom, they have no shot--not because Odom is an essential player, but rather because his presence adds a certain quality and chemistry.
Reminds me of the stupid move, by the Celtics, to decide not to re-sign Posey, after the teamwon the championship.
Go figure.
