2 Broke Girls continues with "And the Kosher Cupcakes." The girls face possibly being sick and deceiving new clients of their cupcake business.
Fighting a Cold and Trying to Win
Caroline refuses to catch the flu and carries hand sanitizer around everywhere. Han sneezes in her face, and she insists she's going to get sick. She wants to get antibiotics, but Max reminds her she's poor. She also says she's never been sick or to the clinic. Will that change?
Sophie stops in to meet a man she met online and asks Max to rescue her if necessary. Sergiusz walks over, and she calls him perfect. Earl asks Max what everyone's wondering: Where's his boyfriend? Oleg takes the opportunity to hit on Sophie again while Sergiusz is in the bathroom, and once again, she shoots him down.
Han gives Caroline the address of a drugstore with a doctor on site and says he'll pay for it, then sneezes on Max. At the drugstore, Caroline calls herself "stage 1 pre-sick," but Max tells her she just needs to not give in to being sick. Caroline notices they're in an Orthodox neighborhood and talks about her old neighbors, the Kleins, who used to take care of her. Once she's called up to the counter, Caroline tries to show off what she knows to win Esther over, but she likes Max more, saying she reminds her of herself. When they overhear Esther saying she needs cupcakes for a bar mitzvah the next day, Max offers and says her cupcakes are kosher.
When Caroline gets home after shopping for kosher cooking books and ingredients, she finds that Max is already half done. She insists that they start over to make kosher ones. So what are they going to do with the ones Max has already made? Sophie and Sergiusz just happen to stop by to see if they have spare cupcakes. He takes her keychain (he has one just like it with a pink feather) to head upstairs, and once he's one, Sophie tells the girls she knows he's gay. That's how she prefers it. She has herself for sex.
2 Broke Girls' Attempt at Being Kosher
The girls bring the cupcakes by, and though they just want to take their money and leave, Esther insists they stay and celebrate. She introduces them to her son, Shmuley, and his friend, David, who seem like nice sweet boys—until Esther's out of the room. As Max describes them, they're like "pimps with pimples" and it's more than slightly disturbing. Shmuley even offers to pay Max a lot of money to unbutton her top, and Caroline's outraged by some of the things these boys are saying.
Esther introduces the girls to her mother, who takes to Max like Esther has and notices she has a fever. They insist Max lie down and let Esther's husband, a doctor, look over her. It turns out she has a fever of 102, and Esther puts a cold compress on her forehead to bring it down. Max confesses she doesn't know much about her background so she might not be Jewish even though Esther thinks she's just like her. When Esther's mother brings her soup and blows on it, it's obvious that Max is liking being taken care of.
Meanwhile, poor Caroline's dealing with the not-so-nice young Jewish boys and she warns them about wishing they had family traditions one day. Max continues to be taken care of when the doctor brings her medication, and when Esther brings in the cupcakes, Max confesses they may not be kosher. Esther's mother doesn't want to spit it out since it's so good. Max follows Esther back into the kitchen and explains she burned some and ran out of time. They're not getting paid. Max stops Caroline from telling Esther about Shmuley's behavior.
Sergiusz broke up with Sophie (unsurprisingly). Max returns to work after being out sick and brings Caroline soup, but Caroline says she manned up and isn't going to get sick.
Current total: $865.00
