The Decorah Eagles Are Back! Mom Has One Egg!

The camera’s are on, the nest is ready, and an egg is here. Dad is taking his turns sitting the egg.Last year I watched this nest until 3 fledglings actually flew away.

The cameras are amazing and have night vision that the eagles don’t even see. They sometimes pan the cameras to show the vistas of the preserve where the nest is located in Iowa. Follow the link to watch the Decorah parents and hopefully soon to be eaglets! There is a click POP OUT if you want a small box to watch while you surf the web.  Neat site!

You're very welcome. I always save my posts in word, in case I ever get the boot! Glad to put it back up, I loved watching it last year! Wait till the eggs hatch, you get to watch them feed them, it's sooo cool!

Glad you like it! It gets even better. Expecting another egg in the next ten or 12 hrs, anytime now. Could be longer, but the way she's acting, I don't think so, but what do I know?? LOL

Just had a great shot! Mom stood up, cleaned nest and someone on location zoomed in for GREAT shot of the egg. Soon, Dad will come to relieve her for morning meal and exercise. If she won't leave, will watch for another egg!

If you look on the site, there are videos of the events. There is one for the eggs and stuff like that. Mostly the links for those are towards the bottom.

I used to live near one, too. Saw them soaring around, and in and out, but nothing like this! Two eggs have hatched, one left, because this year there are 3! They say it would be very unusual for all three to survive...

This is so fascinating. I can't believe I just spent nearly thirty minutes watching an eagle sitting on its nest. When (s)he moved around I saw only two chicks and no third egg.

I think the third chick must have been under her, or buried for warmth, because I think they would put it one the chat banner if it died. Isn't it amazing to be a fly on the wall???? I love watching it!

Note, when you go there, notice the pop out in the upper right of the feed. You can hit that, and it gives you a sizable window you can monitor while you are doing other things! Enjoy, Amber!

Wow, great camera work this morning. Panning area, zooming on chicks. The site is busy, though. Had to go in 4 times to get on. It's busiest during school, lots of classes monitoring. They never had anything like this when I was in school!

They are really big now, bigger than a grown chicken, and full feathers. They will be leaving soon.

It's no wonder the Bald Eagle has been the symbol of our countries strength for so long, they are truly unwavering when it comes to stoic strength, have you ever seen a Golden Eagle? I did once, I cant think of anything that compares to watching one jump off a electrical pole and spreading it's wings; it's no wonder they are apex predators.
