Occupy protesters Molly Maxine Garmire, Alexander Nicholas Ayer, Benjamin Lee Miley, Kerry Cunneen, and Michael Desmond Welch are real winners. They are in the spotlight for squatting in two homes in Portland, Oregon. A letter found in one of the homes states, "For the better part of 2011 the squatter community in Portland has been focused upon houses owned by an elderly bankrupt lady named [name withheld by Portland Police]. The idea was that we might have a better chance at survival if the landowner was, as our research could tell, a batty old lady and her bed ridden husband." Squatter community? According to MSNBC, the police believe that the goal was to have "a larger movement to take over houses."
So, the squatters, who were a part of the Occupy Wall Street movement and had Occupy and anarchist literature lying about the house, would target people who were vulnerable and try to take over their properties. They also had information about picking locks and addresses listed of other vacant homes. In this case, "the property owner told police that no one was supposed to be in the home. That homeowner had recently been hospitalized about the same time the squatters were in the home, police said."
Three different neighbours said the squatters have been living there since April, but this has been unconfirmed by police. There may be other houses involved. In related news, Occupy members have been "occupying" vacant and foreclosed homes in Oregon, as documented in the Portland Mercury.
The Portland Tribune lists the charges associated with these upstanding members of society. One of the interesting comments on this story states, "I've listed roughly 250 names associated with the Occupy malaise. This spring I'm opening a business and though I won't be hiring right away, I hope to eventually. I certainly wouldn't want to subject an Occupier to the reality of being employed by a corporation or a 1 percenter wannabe such as myself. Prior to any hiring or doing business, I'll want to research public voting record so that I will know who to discriminate against and who to reward with a Conservative Discount. After all, Mr. Obama said to reward our friends and punish our enemies." There does not seem to be love lost with the Occupy crowd and the actual home owners... there is an "Un-Occupy Portland" Facebook page with 1,338 members as of today.

•UC San Diego professor Ivan Evans' course "Social Movements" is zeroing in on the Occupy movement this semester. "Now we focus on the organization and structure of social movements because of Occupy's unique model," Evans says.

What kind of people are Molly Maxine Garmire, Alexander Nicholas Ayer, Benjamin Lee Miley, Kerry Cunneen, and Michael Desmond Welch?
Were they raised by wild pigs, leeches, or what? Probably a little bit of all three.
Unlike the original founders of this great country who would look upon what they had a hand in creating with wonder and joy that it lasted as long as it did.
Agreed. Probably not far from the sad truth of their upbringing (many of them; though maybe not all).
Yes, old Billy Ayers former 'respected' professor at U of I, unrepentent domestic terrorist, self described Communist revolutionary.
