This morning, I was standing at the bus stop and a gentleman, blew his horn as he passed by. I didn't recognize him or the car, but, I waved. Five minutes later, he pulled up and asked me where I was going. He turned out to be a good Samaritan; I told him and he said he would take me.
It was cold, but, it wasn't that cold. I had to refuse, although he insisted that he was a nice guy and safe. Of course, because I watch way too much 'Criminal Minds,' I was thinking that he probably says that to all of the ladies before he dumps their bodies. :)
He did seem like a nice guy, but, my mother taught me not to get in the car with strangers. Unfortunately, in this day and age, we can't always get into the car of those we know. But, I did appreciate that there are still Good Samaritans in the world.

Probably a good choice. You never know.
He said, 'You thought, I had forgot.' Actually, I had forgotten, I didn't even remember what he looked like. I try to keep extra change in my purse for fellow bus riders. I don't run into many chronic beggars.
But - I understand what you are saying. If someone is obviously ready to board a bus, that's different. I coughed up some change when someone gets on a bus and is a dime or quarter short.
For the most part, I carry only debit cards today. So when someone asks if I have any change, or a buck, I can honestly say I don't carry any cash.
