It has been over two years since anyone really cared about Manny Ramirez being part of baseball. Guess what though? Heeeee'ssss baaaack!
It has yet to be determined which team will take a chance on the aged slugger. Whom ever takes the chance already knows that due to a Performance Enhancing Drug (PED) rap he automatically will miss the first 50 games of the seasons.
There appears to be three teams interested in Manny's services. The Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, and the Toronto Blue Jays; although the Blue Jays have recently been shying away.
The only team I don't see as a fit is the team he will most likely end up on, the Oakland Athletics.
With Oakland he slides right into the four or five slot. He fits into the emphasis of getting on base. His contract will also be very team friendly this season being that he must reprove himself. As a DH it works but, if he even has to play 10 games in left field this will be an issue in that park with a cavernous outfield.
Baltimore Orioles are the best match I feel since it is a hitter friendly park, the team already has good hitters and doesn't need to rely on Manny, and they have a tough coach in Buck to stay on his butt.
Toronto I feel can only end badly. Relatively a young team and not a real clubhouse leader Manny has a bad track record of causing friction. He can hit there if he still has that sweet loopy swing but, like Oakland he needs to only be a DH.
So I like Baltimore as the best fit but, I see him ending up in Oakland. Manny will be Manny again and will hopefully draw some attention to a dying franchise.
