As most of you know I have diabetes. It is not that bad really especially since I lost 27 pounds. Well ever since I gained 6 of those pounds back my blood sugar has been trickling up just a bit, so I am working really hard to take those 6 pounds back off, and an additional 10. If I do that I will be at my ideal weight for my height and age. The doctor says the diabetes should go away at that point. Not really go away, because it never really goes away but kind of be dormant. I want that so badly.
So I did something stupid this morning. My blood sugar was slightly high this morning but nothing serious just a little higher than most mornings. So I took my medicine and ate a nice balanced breakfast and if I had left it that it would have been fine. But even though I have been sort of dieting for the last few days I talked my self in to eating a giant Rice Crispie bar thing that I saw at the dollar store. It said it only had 23 grams of carbs, but i knd of ignored the fact that it was 23 carbs. per serving, and the bar was 2 servings. I ended up eating the entire thing instead of only eating half of it, like I should have. So I ended up eating 46 grams of carbs. Of course my body didn't like that at all. About a half hour I was feeling kind of crummy so I took my blood sugar and sure enough it was at 222. Not good, and higher than it has been in a long time. I think the fact that I have infection right now is making things worse.
So I have been trying to get it back down again. For lunch I ate a chicken leg with no skin and a bowl of vegetable beef soup and I picked out all the potatoes. The soup only had 10 grams of carbs even with the potatoes but I still picked them out. I also drank a couple of large glasses of water to try and flush the sugar out as well.
I want to work out but you should never work out unless your blood sugar is under 190. I am hoping my mostly protein lunch, moving around, and the water have got my blood sugar back down low enough where I can work out.
Hold on I am going to go check.................................................................................................................................
Whew 187 still not great but it should be safe to workout now. The work out will cause a slight rise which is why it is not safe to work out once your blood sugar is over 190. Then the exercise will cause the blood sugar to gradually lower. Hopefully by dinner time I will be back down to normal.
All of this over a stupid Rice Crispie bar. After all this it was just not worth it.

I know what you mean about hating this disease but it will never be gone no matter what type you have. You're just lucky that some day you won't have to control it with medicines, but diet and exercise will always be part of the equation to keep it under control.
I hope your numbers went down after all that.
