Google to pay you to search!

Google has plans to pay you to search, and in return they track your searches. On March 1, 2012, Google plans to announce its new privacy rules, and in return people can opt in or out to allow Google to track them and what they are searching for on the Internet.

Of course, privacy advocates are screaming foul, but in this economy, there is a lot of interest in any money making projects. So how do you feel about Google tracking your searches, and would you be interested in making some extra cash to allow to Google to legally track your searches.

What I don't understand is, aren't they tracking us anyway? Google says it would allow them to better serve the public. I personally feel our privacy has already been invaded, and no amount of money is worth giving someone permission to track me.

Not something I would be interested in myself, but to each their own I guess? Although their "better serving the public" no doubt means being able to stomp their competition and line their own pockets better. Does that better serve the public in the long run? I think things have gone too far already in this area in a lot of ways.

I also thought they tracked us to a degree anyway. Many survey sites have sent surveys that include tracking and I turn those down. I'd turn down this one too, unless they paid really well, like $0.01+ per search, lol.

google has asked me before. I was never offered money, but i am interested in being tracked any more than I am already.

It does indeed sound like an invasion of privacy. I wonder if they pay money or give points like we get from here on gather.If it's just for points I wonder how much differance there will compared to other sites.

I would do it, I need money badly. And, like you said, they use cookies to track what you search anyway. So, why not get paid for it?

We are already tracked all over the place. Our GPS devices (including cell phones) track us, facebook tracks us, search engines track us, if you call overseas your calls are probably listened in on, your movements can be tracked by your credit card usage, stores have security cameras that record every thing we do in the store and outside in the parking lots. It's been years and years since we've had privacy. Most of the tracking is done by businesses wanting to sell us things and and stores tired of thieves. Only a little is done by government and that is for criminal and/or terrorist activities.

on swag you kind of get paid but we look for bizarre things we wouldn't normally look up in hopes of getting points.
