It has been reported by multiple sources now that the Yankees and Pirates are discussing a deal for Right Handed Pitcher AJ Burnett for a group of players including Outfielder Garrett Jones.
The 34 year old Burnett has had a tumulus tour of duty in the Bronx since signing 3 years ago. He has a track record with success in the National League as a former member of the defunct Florida Marlins.
Garrett Jones a 30 year old corner outfielder is the prime target because he can hit for power which will only increase at the Yankee's home run haven. He is cost effective for the Yankees as well since they most likely will be picking up some of Burnett's large contract.
Deal works for both teams; Burnett needs to go to a smaller market because he tends to get flustered with pressure. What better place to not have pressure than Pittsburgh not being a playoff team in 19 years?
Jones to New York makes sense because they are still looking for a corner outfielder/ first baseman. This is a better option than signing Ibanez or Damon.
