On February 6, the ladies of the Masterpiece Classic series Downton Abbey, Jessica Brown Findlay, Joanne Froggatt, and Elizabeth McGovern walked the red carpet at the Evening Standard British Film Awards. Held at the London Film Museum, the awards drew an interestingly dressed crowd including Harry Potter's Clemence Poesey, Breaking Dawn actress MyAnna Buring, and Narnia's Anna Popplewell.
Joanne Froggatt, who plays the Crawley sisters' maid Anna in the series, picked white lace for her red carpet look. Harper's Bazaar UK spotted Joanne in Alessandra Rich. Her belted, sleeveless dress fit her nicely. Joanne could have used a pop of color -- a red lip shade, or maybe a bright-colored clutch, or shoes.
Downton Abbey's Lady Sybil, Jessica Brown Findlay recently told Grazia Daily UK that Alessandra Rich is one of her favorite designers. At the awards, Jessica showed her loyalty by wearing a lace collar Alessandra Rich dress. Sadly, it wasn't the Albatross star's best look. Jessica Brown Findlay needed something more structured, and more flattering.
Lady Cora a.k.a. Elizabeth McGovern had a style misstep at the awards. Elizabeth's strapless, red dress had a prom dress/bridesmaid look to it. The full skirt, the dress' waist, that shiny fabric, and those sheer tights did not work at all for the Downton Abbey star.
