OWS Footage, "We are the proletariat!"

"Mayor Jean Quan and the mainstream media have described the protests as “mostly peaceful,” and have claimed that the violence began following the march. Both of those lies have been completely shattered–like the windows of stores in downtown Oakland."

 

This video starts out with the marchers chanting, "We are the Proletariat, We are the Proletariat, We are the Proletariat" . . .

 

And soon you will notice the people grouped in the very center of the marchers (as well as further back evenly spread out among marchers) ... people who look to be very prepared to engage in what is apparently called black bloc tactics.

Then, low and behold, all of a sudden they are engaged in just that sort of diversion (with no police instigation I might add) as, at about time stamp 00:58, there's a loud report and a window is shattered accompanied by cheers from the crowd.

Who could have known?  Any OWS member looking at them could have known, and perhaps should have?  What do you think; should they have known the source of violence and vandalism to come were already marching side by side with and among them?

 

It's true, some of the marchers do try to stop the violence after it starts... but then they neglect to call in anyone who could actually eject the ones doing the violence.  Their solution seems to have been to yell at and do violence back at the ones doing the vandalism and violence.

Further, what's their idea of a follow-through on that?

They just keep marching as the "black bloc" perps are allowed to rejoin the group.

But we were told, are being told, and will continue to be told to be fair and remember, as the Mayor said (is she still saying this I wonder?), the ones who did the violence are just a "small isolated group" so we shouldn't allow their actions to "mar the overall impact of the demonstration and the fact that people in the 99 percent movement demonstrated peacefully..."

Really?  Even though this "isolated" group remained part of the main group, and those who commtitted acts of vandalism and violence were allowed (time and again) to rejoin the other, "mostly peaceful,"  marchers even after they had/have committed acts of vandalism and violence?  Really?

So my question is ... what did these protesters expect from people dressed in black from head to toe, faces covered, carrying sticks (flags for deniability) and cans of spray paint?

And just how are they fringe or in any way an "isolated group" if they were allowed to stay and rejoin the march?

 

At another interesting point in the video (time stamp 5:56 or so), a young man, bless his heart--- and I mean that genuinely... At that moment in time he was valiant in his efforts and dedication.

This young man tries to get through to one of the masked people ... "What are you hiding?!" "Violence won't solve anything!"  "Who are you?!"  "Who are you?!"  "Show your *** face!"  "If you wanna stand up for something, show them that you're a *** person!"  "Show them your face ... who are you?"

He does his best but he, along with many of the other marchers, is probably in over his head (and possibly out of the loop as far as possible GA approved tactics -http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/05/01/occupy-may-day-factions-plan-violent-disruptions  and plans might be), passionate though he is.

 

And sure enough, at about 6:18 we see his impassioned confrontation had no effect whatever as, in another view of the same crowd, we hear them shouting something interesting over and over ...   It sounds like,

"#@*# the property of the 1%!, #@*# the property of the 1%!, #@*# the property of the 1%!"

 

Near the end there is a guy with a megaphone who, in regard to the vandalism, says something like,

"People being thrown out in the street is violent, people losing their homes is violent... this pales in comparison.  These windows will be fixed tomorrow and you know it."

He even seems to believe that because one happened the other is okay ...  "These windows will be fixed tomorrow and you know it..."

My response to that would be, "And...?"

The following video version of events gives another view of the black dressed protesters vandalizing Whole Foods ...

 

Since it's the same video but from a different angle, again some of the marchers try to stop a guy from breaking windows and they have him on the ground, while in the background we can hear shouts of "Let him go!  Let him go! Leave him alone!"  Among other more colorful phrases.

And so, they let him go.

 

Ah yes, in this version we also hear shouts of "no violence", and see that indeed some marchers are trying to protect Whole Foods property.

However,  it's too little too late and a previous question again jumps to the front of my mind,

"What did these protesters expect from people dressed in black from head to toe, faces and heads covered, carrying sticks (flags for deniability) and cans of spray paint?

What did they think the people dressed in dark clothes with masks were there for?  A picnic? . . . A TEA party?

And how do OWS members think their protestations that it's 'just a fringe few' who do these things will be taken seriously if they allow, even surround and march side by side with those who look prepared for and have already done vandalism and violence (and when caught are promptly set free to rejoin the main march to do so again)?
