While Josh Powell and the two sons he shares with missing woman Susan Cox Powell are dead, the man's father is currently under observation. Steven Powell has been in jail for several weeks after detectives discovered a stash of child porn and illegal voyeurism footage. Among some of this footage it is said that he possessed hidden photo footage of Susan Cox Powell.
In regards to the death of Josh Powell and his sons, Steven Powell is under suicide watch after an uncooperative interview. It's reported that the man would not cooperate with questions regarding the explosion that took place in Washington on Super Bowl Sunday. Sources describe the elder Powell as being "not overly emotional" in learning of the deaths of his son and grandsons.
Could Steven Powell had known about this beforehand? Could he have had prior knowledge of Josh Powell's plans before they transpired? If so, that would make him an even bigger monster than he already is accused of being. And guess what: He may be a key in the case of Susan Cox Powell's disappearance.
Will the Susan Cox Powell disappearance remain a mystery with Josh Powell being gone?
Probably not, whether or not you want to believe that. You see, it's apparent that the Powell family is a close-knit unit with Steve as the patriarch even behind bars. It's more than apparent that he and Josh know more than what detectives have been told regarding Susan's disappearance. As recently as late 2011, Steven Powell was making horribly sexual comments about the missing woman and even accused his daughter of having a sexual relationship with her. Of course, this only came when his daughter spoke out against his sexual remarks against Susan.
Steven Powell also had those mysterious shots taken of Susan without her knowledge. The voyeur shots could serve as evidence in the case of her disappearance. Could Steven have knowledge of what happened to her, or could he actually have been involved?
It's terribly tragic that the two boys shared by Josh Powell and his missing wife are dead, but Josh Powell himself probably doesn't deserve to be missed. Unfortunately, with him gone there really is a big chance that this case won't be solved as he was most suspicious.
