Since I just joined two groups about sewing, I figured I should share my personal "sewing history". Back when I was still in grade school, my mother taught me some sewing basics and I made a quilt. I started a second one, which lay dormant for years and picked up by other family members who conributed some to it until it was finally finished. I remember a few craft projects back then, and some occasional mending over the years. More recently, I have taken jeans with holes in the knees to convert to shorts, and added strips in the inseam when they get a bit tight there, thus insuring better ventilation. I have taken long sleeve shirts with holes in the elbow or sleeves which were too short and turned them into short sleeve shirts. After mending all these to the point of patches on the patches, I would like to make my own clothes, and perhaps other items, from scratch. So, here's to self reliance.

I've never sewn a quilt though. I'll have to try that one someday.
