Madonna has always been known as being a bit ruthless when it comes to business, but does that need to carry over to her own flesh and blood? She reportedly has cut her daughter Lourdes out of her new film.
According to a report from Hollywood Life, the singer—who will appear Sunday at the Superbowl—maintains that pulling Lourdes from the film W.E., set to open February 3rd, is for her own good. How do you figure that?
It seems Lourdes was "dragged in" at the last minute to play the role of Abbie Cornish's character's younger version. This small part in W.E. would have actually been her film debut.
"I just kind of dragged her in at the last minute," Madonna says. "It was quite unfair of me what I did and what I asked her to do."
So now she's simply pulled her back out again.
"But she was really great and then I ended up cutting her out of the film," says Madonna. "Ruthless, I know. I said, 'Sorry babe, you're on the cutting room floor.' She took it like a champ."
Does it sound to you like Lourdes had any say in the matter? It sort of sounds like Madonna calls all the shots—as mother, director, film maker, etc. And yes, she is ruthless, even where her own child is concerned.
Can you imagine the excitement any teenage girl would experience knowing she was about her make her film debut, regardless of the size of the part? And then to learn that not only have you been cut, but your mom did the cutting. Wow.
Alas Madonna is known for getting what she wants, when she wants it, and it seems even her daughter isn't immune to her hack jobs.
Will you be seeing W.E. sans Lourdes Leon? Could you do that to your own daughter?
