I understand that you have put it to where people will now make about 3 points to 5 an hour if they are lucky. One of you said it would get better once you cleared out the inactive accounts! Do you have any idea how stupid that is?!? First off, no one who is inactive is claiming anything! You should not punish the active members this way! Why not give us the crap points we were getting before and get rid of all those inactive accounts at the same time!?! This excuse is unexcused! Shame on you greedy people. Especially when a post was written that said you guys had a great year!! I guess it was not good enough! =(

I got 1 point yesterday and NONE today despite all my comments. I've heard that some are still getting points and I'm having a hard time understanding why some are when most of us aren't.

Cindy I said pretty much the same thing on Connie's post. Even if a person is not on this site for the points I don't understand how people can so easily accept Gather's decision as okay. Our protesting might not change anything but neither will remaining silent.

Most people are on this site for points! Weather they admit it or not. =p For Gather to say we get less points because they need to clean house on old inactive accounts is foolish! Those folks are not cashing in, they owe them nothing. Gather just wants to screw us all over again....... =/

Most foreigners aren't here for points - their points cannot be exchanged for vouchers.
I understand that some foreigners are using US addresses to allow them to claim their points - but I think that's cheating.
There are lots of foreigners here, CindyB - so you can't say that 'most people' are here for points. Lots of people obviously ARE, but 'most'?!

I have quite a lot of points but can’t cash them in as I come from England. Gather management say it is because of the tax implications, which frankly is baloney as I get at least $100 a month paid into my pay pal account from a USA based writing site. So if that site can do it so can Gather. I am not on this site for points or money if I was I would have left long ago.

I even asked the gather management if I could donate my points to a US charity as they are just sitting there doing nothing and it would make more sense for someone less fortunate than myself to benefit. They came back and said that it would be impossible for me to do that again because of the tax implications. I just think they are lazy and can’t be bothered.

They are the owners, it is their decision. When they are paying you money for your points, it is because of their gracious decision to pay you money. As they are the owners (and did you read their terms about this?) they can change the system anytime without further notice and this is what they have done to keep the site stable, legit and PAYING.

When there is not enough income, they need to lower the payment. That's the reason.

Yes they are the owners but without the contributors and viewers the site will cease to exist. If the reason for lowering the amount of points earned was because the site is not generating enough income then I would assume Gather would wish to encourage not discourage more posting. In general people do not want to work harder when the rewards are fewer.

Wasn't it suggested by many that when the Skywriters and that aspect of Gather was launched, the owners didn't give a tuppenny da mn about the Gather social aspect of the site?
Frankly, the crap that most of the skywriters regurgitate almost verbatim from other sites is of little to no interest to those of us who are here to connect with people!

I am more shocked that people put of with this crap and think it is fine. This is put out on the net as a paid social site! Oh..It's been put out as writers,recipe,ect,ect..Fact is they said they pay.Then they pull crap all the time and just expect folks to suck it up well they get rich. Horse Apples! It is not right and if you think it is then you should make a greedy little site just like them. =)

it is hard bcuz the social aspect here is grt - but whn thos tht contribute grtly 2 tht social aspect r cut down, i wld think tht wld hurt the bottom line the most - & i agree tht mo peopl come here 2 socialize thn 2 read the latest news - altho it doesn't hurt 2 catch up on whtz goin on @ the same time mind you. it's jus a lil frustratn whn changes hapn tht mak peopl wana leave, or simply stop contributn

Cindy, I don't think they are greedy. They are doing this to maintain a paying and sustainable site for us. And I already have a paying site, I don't need a greedy one. On my site, only members earn. I earn nothing with it.

And Infinity, sorry but I won't even try to decipher what you have "written".

yep...I'm here for the points. The friends and connections I've made are awesome as well as other aspects, but ding dang....for the amount of hours I spend here each day I wasn't making hardly anything at all as it was.

The excuse for them to do this is so lame! It makes no sence...That is what really angers me! =/ If they would say "Hey we are having money problems" I wouldn't mind not making so many point's. They how ever did say they had a major profit this past year.... With out us they make nothing because it is far to easy to go to another site that pays nothing too. For those who are trying for a little extra cash to make ends meet, it is best to go to another paying site, surveys what ever... =p
