Was Nicki Minaj a prude when she first tried to make it in show business? Yes, says the man who claims he reshaped the "Superbass" singer's image and taught her how to market herself as a sex symbol.
According to Big Fendi, the super busty singer who's now famous for flaunting her even bigger butt was once a shy, repressed girl named Onika Maraj. At first, Onika was mortified by Fendi's suggestion that she super-sexualize herself. She felt "disgraced" by the very idea "that she turn into a sex symbol to sell records."
In a recent interview with The Come Up, Big Fendi dished on his early relationship with the now famous singer with the huge derrière.
"Me and Nicki Minaj was arguing because I wanted her to be the sex symbol and talk about p***y and get n****s open,' Big fendi explained, "and she told me I was disgracing her name... But she still talking about p***y and ass, ass, ass. ...I changed her name, I changed her image."
So there you have it. It's hard to believe that Nicki Minaj was once a reactionary, sex-negative prude. Of course, Big Fendi's recollections of the past might not be as accurate as he now believes. Sometimes, memory fails. Especially when there's money involved. And Big Fendi claims Nicki Minaj's label Young Money still owes him big bucks. Is it possible that he and La Minaj didn't exactly part company as friends?
Oh well, whatever the true story is, Nicki Minaj's sexy persona speaks for itself. And she certainly sells albums. Never Say Never, eh?
As to whether she was ever a real prude... Who knows? What do you think?
