E-Reader Please

I have decided to take the plunge and purchase an e-reader.  I love books.  I like the way they feel in my hands and I love going to my bookshelf and selecting my next read.  This is why I have protested the purchase of an e-reader for so long.  However, I have been traveling much more.  Work sends me all over for trainings.  I moved a couple years ago, so I travel home (West Virginia) as often as I can as well.  This has made me decide that an e-reader would be a beneficial purchase.  My luggage won't be weighed down with books.  So now I'm at the hard part of my decision, which e-reader would work best for me.  I just purchased a Macbook Pro, so I'm not looking for an e-reader to work as my internet source.  It would be nice to be able to check my email but I don't need to download website after website.  I would prefer color (for magazines and children's books).  I live in Florida, so I need a screen that will work well in sunlight.  After doing a lot of research, I think either the Kindle Fire or Nook Tablet would be the best bet for me.  However, I want your opinions.  What do you own?  What do you like about each e-reader?  What do you dislike?  Is the IPad 2 really worth the price difference?
